Is the Mangaka of this manga doing both art & story?
Because the art changed extremely after a few chapters in, and looking at the last 500-ish raw chapters, the quality of art degraded very badly.
Anyone knows why?

Yes, he's doing both art & story.
Sako Toshio's art is very very unstable, I think it's because he's also an amateur boxer, so he doesn't have enough of time for taking care of every page.

I think because Usogui is his first serialization, and he studied art fairly late (late 20s), he was still improving and figuring out his own art style.

I also don't really like his later/new style which appears in his current manga (Batuque). The anatomy of his characters become very different.

Yeah, the early chapters were done by EGScans and they don't allow their (solo) chapters to be uploaded on mdex. You can find them on EGScan's reader.

There's a live action series coming out, but there haven't been any updates on it for awhile.

As for the anime itself, no info on it. All we can do is speculate.

I know Usogui itself was fairly popular (its volume releases regularly reached ~#20 on Oricon charts). Maybe if the live action series is well-received, there may be a chance. It also depends on how busy the author is with his current serialization I suppose.

Well, we are reaching the end of vol 18 so there are only 31 vol left to go.
