from what i understand, the tldr:

a group of scanlators didnt like something about MangaDex and decided to pull all their scans from the site. on their way out, the groups decided to post saying MangaDex makes a profit/money/stealing their traffic from their work and I think something about how they're getting harassed from readers and the MD admins not doing anything about it. MD admins says that's not the problem but the groups want more money and shouldn't use them as an excuse for leaving. then bam, ~38 pages of going back and forth.

Honestly, i really dont mind their delay's, its their choice to do it, and they have very good reasons to do it with immensely popular series like One Piece, My Hero Academia and others. They are even providing Solo Leveling chapters instantly, without delays because it is popular here.
Keep on translating, you guys are a good group, taking such high risk series that could get C&D'd any moment.

Don't suppose you guys could do chapters 834-850 of One Piece. Its the only gap in the series here on MangaDex and its right before you guys started on the series. It would be amazing if you guys were willing to fill the gap.

@ThatOneComment I'm not cock blocking anyone from reading what they want to read... There is only a 12-24 hour delay on that series and if you don't like it then deal with it. We need that time to fix up any mistakes before it's released here.

You have a problem with the joint? Contact One Shot scans and ask them about it. We're people here (mostly students with part time jobs too), not big corporate companies with unlimited resources that can go on forever. Sometimes we all need a little bit of help from others.

The 2 week delay is just preposterous, i don't want to visit your site i want to know where i've left the manga off i want to read them all nealty in one place not having 100 sites and bookmarks i would put up to 1 week i would even consider reading the extra 1 chapter from your site now just beacause of that i actually have dropped most of the series you guys handle and i just simple wait for them about a year to read them all together or go to an aggrecate site if i must since you just don't get it but thanks for at least translating them.

I read when I see them on updates. I just recently noticed that delay was 2 weeks. They have all the right to choose what they want. I think anything more than a week will bring more harm than benefit. But I guess I am wrong since they are still not reducing it

It's hard to appreciate a group that forcing their readers to go to their website by putting a ridiculously long delay. 1~4 days are tolerable, but 2 weeks are ridiculous.

I find it amusing, how one group can hold "supremacy" over popular shounen manga demanding knowledge of 3rd or even 4th grader in kanji. But yeah, keep it up, good rusing.

The only reason their delay "works" is because other scanlators don't do it. If there were a lot more series with delays people would move on to read on other aggregation sites making it kinda pointless (people already do). You can almost argue that they leech of the goodwill of other uploaders.

Their website obviously feels (low-effort) like they want to suck ad-money from people. There are ways to make a website lucrative to visit without getting people to chase a carrot.

Now I appreciate the work put in to the translating. The work they do on the actual chapters is good. I also completely understand the need for funding the work that is done, like receiving donations.
If we look at relatives however; out of all the manga I follow no other group is using the same practices as them currently. It leaves your opinion of them with a bad taste in your mouth. Their forceful methods hardly makes them any more successful than groups who align with their readers.

That's just my critical opinion on their delay nonsense though I respect that Mangadex has the option for it. Also that this is the only way to get them to allow their readers to have some convenience by uploading here.

that's largely because most groups give up on the idea due to the nature of readers/consumers and readily recognize the futility of it when people can get EVERYTHING from every group they like all in one spot. No possible way they can compete with the aggregators.

It's kinda like how all the companies back in the day tried their best to stop people from pirating their software. It's an effort in futility, but for some reason still exists.

Almost forgot, Sometimes their own websites have adds so they can get add revenue. more ppl going to their site helps them out that way.

But why do they need a website or want traffic to their website? I don't get that. I haven't seen this kind of behaviour in any other "service" community like FOSS, subbers, warez, web novel translators, etc...

It's pretty much a catch 22 though. From readers perspective they usually don't care and the delay is just annoying. But from a scanlators perspective what possible other method is there to get people to go from the aggregator onto their own website. The majority of groups have a lame website that's really just there because they need one. But if a group puts work into their site and actually want it used by the readers then ya. Annoy the fan base with delays or abandon hope of getting their website to be the main source for the series they scanlate. Not many options.

I don't mind the delay. The point of the delay is accomplished when a series is so good that people are desperate to read the latest translation. Ideally they go to the scanlators website and read there. Literally the only time i would use the other websites that don't care about the scanlators is when the manga is licensed or when the group does not allow uploads.

If you mean the new thumbnail view on beta vs the list view on live version, you can swap back to list view in your settings on beta - or just click the latest updates text for a simple view.

Two weeks is really way too much and I have gotten so used to the list style setting on mangadex that I don't foresee a future I can go on without it anymore

What are you talking about? I was reading a couple chapters from their site last night. Just click on the "Reader" button on the top of the page. They rarely update the news section, but their reader is updated almost daily.

Looks like a fake group. After checking their site, there are no actual chapters. Maybe they just want to earn page views.
