>A pretty good start. I love these stories that challenge the morality of society and at the same time unveil how hard it is to make a good AI. ...so wheres that story youre talking about? On an unrelated note, this comment sections expresses more turmoil over a cat than there was outrage over that oneshot depicting raping a toddler. Curious. |

A pretty good start. I love these stories that challenge the morality of society and at the same time unveil how hard it is to make a good AI. Just because something is simple to us or is the norm for us doesn’t mean it’s common sense in the living world as a whole. A robot starting out as a blank slate would not blindly take human’s side, as some of our norms are hella dangerous to other species and nature. The butterflies MC showed her was enough proof. |

@Fortis99 Issac Asimov coined those rules, but there's nothing that says every fictional or real world robot will follow those rules. He even wrote about how flawed that basic ruleset is in I, Robot and in various other works he himself wrote. One of my favorite mentions of the Three Rules of Robotics is in Beatless where (minor spoiler) an AI said that the first rule was impossible to implement because AI weren't allowed to self-define what harm meant and that humans were unable to give a clear definition of the term. None of the artifical intelligences were made with the three rules ingrown for that reason. Last edited 10 days ago by encrypted12345. |

She should have 3 basic laws of robotic installed in her, right ? A cat is outside of the laws, but there should be no chance of her killing people |

@encrypted12345 I am pretty sure, that she has her logic human enough she won't put animals and vegetation into the same category. The actual problem was not her computer-like way of thinking, but her lack of some human emotions/instincts (disgust), inability to tell what the other side feels and lack of life experience. She is basically an infant, who doesn't know what wrong is. To her bugs and the rest of animal kingdom are alike. They all move, see, think, eat, breath, experience pain. And humans also kill all types of animals from time to time. So if a beautiful butterfly may be turned into decoration, why can't a fluffy cat be? It should perfectly acceptable - these two things are not fundamentally different. Sure, one thing leaks much more blood due to lower surface tension, but making someone close to you happy is worth getting dirty, no? Poor girl. Nobody told her, that humans only care about feelings of things, that can voice out their emotion. We don't feel anything for a dying ant or fish, since they experience their agony silently. Well, what I want to say is, this household is pretty much fucked and is full of irresponsible people, who unknowingly nurture a horror movie in their rice fields. So pack this robololi and send her to me instead. I am a pro in not being an idiot, that leaves infants to play with knives. |

Usually, when a scientist creates a robot and announces it'll be a new dawn of friendly robots, it's the preceding moment before a shadow agency swoops in, kills the scientist and assistants, steals everything, and whoever are left become fugitives and hunted... ...though the scientist in this instance sure seems to have missed a few screws for the 'friendly' part ... |

Robots are dumb. Kids are dumb. Put them together without supervision and you're guaranteed to get disasters. |

Holy fuck. Can't blame her though, he literally showed the most naive creature the "art" of butterfly specimens and how you can preserve pretty things forever that way, along with dead bug necklaces. By that standard, a cat necklace made from your own cats must be pretty dang sweet. Last edited 10 days ago by sirflimflam. |

If she's the best robot they have the others must really suck. Her learning is really bad since she can't seem to learn from past mistakes or understand obvious differences between things. |
