@kanedian @QueenKumQuat was trying to figure out what the water in the idiom actually referred to and ended up on Wikipedia, and found that although the interpretation I cited is one brought up by people more recently (not just Tumblr or whatnot) there is a similar idiom stating that blood is thicker than milk. Which is interesting. |

Fun fact: it's actually "the blood of the covenant is thicker than the water of the womb", and referred to the bonds of soldiers having been through battle together being tighter than the bonds of family. So... Found family can be stronger than blood relationships. QED, it's absolutely true. |
