the story is clear, it's just long gaps between releases can make it easy to forget things:

this is a 17 year earlier flashback of the first song ryang-ha (freckles guy who was named by mr. donny)'s meeting with our Male lead (then a young teen).

freckles ryang-ha and and ML will save kid chateau in a few days, but freckled ryang-ha will die then,
afterwards. our ML decides to use freckles guy's name, so ML officially becomes (the second) Song ryang-ha.

@Hadski I think what's happening is that the Song Ryang-ha we've always seen is NOT the real Ryang-ha, but some (yet to be named) street kid who got picked up by the real Ryang-ha, the freckled boy who works for Mr Donny.
