People are only just now getting the MG Quest vibes from this? the spirits started getting me thinking of the similarities, but the appearance of something "other" than a typical monster solidified it. MGQ seems like it makes for a good manga/light novel. Would probably be a dope Anime if done by the right studio now that I think about it.

THIS IS WHAT YOU CALL STORY
NICE WORK AUTHOR !

Would be real awkward if she ended up bleeding out while he was passed out next to her.

@Invader_Retro Yeah, especially when that something looks dead yet still moving in the first place. Nothing about that thing suggested it would be stopped by damage that would stop a human's vital functions, so it would be foolish to assume so.

I really like this manga, the art is great and that enemy was awesome, thank you Mangaka and Scanlators!

This is almost the epitome of stock light novel tropes. Ren is not, in and of himself, all that strong. He's decent for a human, but by no means is he a match for ANYTHING he has been encountering. His power comes not from his power but from someone else. The spirits. The goddess' seal. His past incarnation. Ren himself has almost nothing that he can definitively claim as his own. Contrast that with a stock shounen character, where they go through training arcs and actually improve themselves. Here, Ren has only improved insofar as he has been granted powers by other entities, be they spirits or goddesses.

I say that this is almost the epitome of stock light novel tropes because we do still see Ren exert some amount of effort. There weas the sword leaf training that we saw. However, even that was basically just "hey, your past incarnation, Elline, could do it, so you need to get back to that level". Even if Ren gets out of the shadow of Elline, he's still subject to these tropes because it's all the other characters/spirits that improve him, not himself.

I'm more baffled by the trope that the MC always needs to get some kind of shock therapy from seeing someone else die/dying in front of him before he unleashes his hidden power.
