@GuildMasterJin - Ares obviously has the RPG class "Sage", which has impressive access to magic. Like with most other "sages" in anime and manga, it doesn't necessarily mean he is actually clever or wise.

Like it would be the equivalent of a guild firing both the white mage and scout for not engaging in battle which would be ridiculous because you lose the ability to heal and knowledge about the lay of the land and nearby dangers
