Synethsesia is where your senses become jumbled, like you can taste the color blue whenever you see it. Seeing numbers on your hand is a hallucination, which may have resulted from brain damage, hence the CT scan.

Also, I’m horribly jealous for that cheap medical treatment. I hope if I ever pass out on the street that they just roll me out of the way and leave me there, because that would be preferable to needing to pay the hospital bills.

That's over diagnosis if I've ever seen one, couldn't it just have been a case of late blooming synesthesia?
